PREMIERE: FIH – “AYE YAI YAI”

Hailing from sun-soaked LA, the rising R&B star offers up a soaring new single.

Growing up in the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles, Fih has been surrounded by the vibrant music scene that the city has to offer. Flitting between New York and Los Angeles once she’d flown the nest, Fih’s sound is imbued with a bi-coastal influence. Always giving back to the community, Fih is a familiar face – popping up at events such as the annual Juneteenth Festival and Pray For The Hood.

This new offering comes as a result of the rising star buckling down, and honing her craft over the past few months. Ahead of her debut EP, she releases “Aye Yai Yai” – a self-assured ode to knowing your worth. Tentative, latin-sounding guitar strings pave the way for Fih’s silky-smooth voice to float on top of the track. A bass guitar then introduces some groove, while soaring violins flourish at the chorus.

Reflecting on how the track came to be, Fih notes, “I reminisce about my first heartbreak and as the song goes on I realize more and more that this person was never meant for me.” It’s a tale as old as time, and we can certainly relate.

Fih’s aim is to bring back real R&B, and with support from the likes of DJ TY – she’s on track to do just that.
