Gorillaz are nothing short of a cultural phenomenon – bringing us absolute classics like “Clint Eastwood”, and “Feel Good Inc.” The virtual band has been gracing us with hit upon hit since their debut almost two decades ago; we’re chuffed to see that they’re keeping up with the times.
Joining forces with Smirnoff, the go-to vodka for any occasion, a sensational collaboration was dreamed up in the form of a limited edition Gorillaz vodka bottle. Flying off the shelves and selling out in less than 24 hours – there’s no doubt that this union brings the heat. With that in mind, Gorillaz and Smirnoff have teamed up yet again – this time with a live mixology class, where a deliciously exclusive cocktail recipe will be imparted onto those who attend.
Headed by none other than Murdoc Niccals, Gorillaz’ bonafide bad boy, fans will be able to mix along with him as he sweet-talks his way through a mouth-watering cocktail creation, ‘The Vodka Murdini.’ Set to go live at 6pm GMT on the 24th of November, on the Gorillaz’ official YouTube channel, being over the age of 18 is the only prerequisite for joining in on the fun. But you’ll also need a couple of supplies; first and foremost, some Smirnoff. On top of classic martini ingredients like a cocktail shaker, jigger, ice, a martini glass, vermouth, and olive brine – participants are also asked to bring along pickles – for a pickle-perfect twist.
The mixology masterclass will be followed up by a Q&A with Murdoc, if any fans are keen to pick his brains – about cocktails, or matters beyond. The Gorillaz’ underdog comments on the masterclass saying, “Would you like to know the secret to my signature cocktail? Or maybe you just want to see me shaking one of those cocktail things while I spin inspiring yarns and solve all your problems? Then tune in to my LIVE mixology masterclass with Smirnoff! Not into cocktails or top-draw banter? Just sit back and behold my dazzling new tuxedo!” I mean, what’s not to love?
