The 1980s truly is the decade on everyone’s lips right now, following the latest instalment of Netflix behemoth Stranger Things, and the renaissance of Kate Bush’s 1985 “Running Up That Hill” that came in tow. The suitability of both the era’s film and sonics is not lost on Luisa Siorou, who not only draws on the decade’s sumptuous synths in new track “80s Rom-Com”, but a teen movie classic too, in the form of Pretty In Pink.
The follow-up to the rising talent’s debut single, “perfect crime”, her sophomore release, crafted with Nashville-based artist and producer Lukas Scott Klingensmith, is a bubbly, danceable pop love story that shows off Siorou’s knack for songwriting and her indisputable pop prowess.
“Storytelling is my favourite part in the creation process so I really wanted to write a song that was fun and made you want to dance but still tell a story for the listener,” she said of the track. “I think with “80s Rom-Com” I achieved that which I’m really proud of and so excited for people to hear!”
