It might be a feel-good Friday, but Plastic Picnic are starting off our day by plunging us into our feels with their poignant-yet-cathartic single, “Slide”. Taking us on a road trip with a back seat full of flowers, Plastic Picnic breaks into a soulful symphony about the heart-palpitating moments in which you put yourself out there. Descending into a slow yet sparkling chorus, the band lament the pain of missed opportunity — creating an insightful reflection of the stories that happen when love does not work out for us. While the music video for “Slide” plays into this narrative, depicting scenes of loneliness and sole adventures, the uplifting synths dispersed within the track keep listeners hopeful — and totally hooked into Plastic Picnic’s soundscape.

Hacked from their debut album, As Long As You Need, “Slide” is the perfect exemplar of the Brooklyn-based dream-rock band’s penchant for exploring hard-hitting taboos. With the effort exploring the complexities of youth, As Long As You Need is the life-navigating handbook we didn’t know we needed, until now.
