PREMIERE: SEEMENOT – “BORDERLINE”

The acclaimed Jamaican-Canadian artist unveils her latest effort along with a hypnotic visual, directed by Cor.Ece.

Infectiously upbeat from the off, SeeMeNot instantly plummets us into a high-energy percussion of drums and chest-pounding beats in her brand new single, “Borderline”. With a constantly switching flow and ethereal vocals, SeeMeNot instantly forges a dystopia in which her soundscape takes full control — leaving us completely disorientated yet totally succumbed to her compelling groove. This overwhelming sensation is only exaggerated in the track’s hypnotic visual, set in the middle of a barren desert. As a man is seen running away from an unknown presence, a group of dancers are consumed by the track’s melody. Finally resigning to SeeMeNot’s allure, the man eventually submits to the music — within which his worries suddenly dissipate.

Speaking on the track, SeeMeNot explains, “As I have done with a lot of my songs, I thought of the visuals first. In my head, I had the music video before the words came to me for the lyrics… It was always about two entities playing their before and after selves; one in their state of loss, insecurity, space of unanswered questions and confusion. The other: a strong feminine presence with a nurturing heart, being the spirit and guiding light saying ‘it’s gonna be all right’. I just never thought it would be possible before working with Cor.Ece, I felt like he got into my head and then put it on the screen. This project is truly a dream come true thanks to everybody who made it so.”
