It goes without saying, but no outfit is completed without some serious drip, and Australian designer Olivia Cummings is providing just that with her brand Cleopatra’s Bling. Dedicated to pushing the boundaries of creativity and design, Cummings brings a maximalist approach to jewellery, effortlessly blending designs inspired by the ancients with a slick contemporary twist.
The brand was founded in Istanbul in 2014 on an ethos of boldly challenging norms, beauty standards and gender stereotypes. Over the years, through moves to Naples and Paris, whenever Cummings was confronted with an outdated binary, rather than abiding by it, she took the attitude, “Why not both?” This rebellion is perfectly exemplified in the brand’s SS ’22 campaign which features a ballerina in her 70s and a young, masculine model. Hardly the typical brand ambassadors for a jewellery company, they show the boundary-breaking nature of the Cleopatra’s Bling vision of beauty in the 21st Century.
Launching its new collection just in time for summer, the brand pay homage to the label’s continued celebration of Eastern art forms, with bold, emerald, statement pieces and opulent 18K gold plated jewels with Malachite and Zircon gems. From cool blue tones to bold vibrant ruby reds, the collection projects a sense of calm, imbuing the wearer with a sense of openness and serenity. At all times it remains true to its iconic roots in historic design.
The collection titled Green Hearts in Sun, allows us to revisit stories from a distant past, while giving the wearer a new way to express themselves through Cummings’ truly avant-garde vision.
