With another weekend spent basking in the summer heat, it is fair to say that our love affair with the sun is well underway. And, Louis Vuitton has just joined us in entering its sun-worshipping era, and to be honest, we are not mad about it at all.

Taking to California’s The Salk Institute, the French Luxury Maison looked to honour the brutalist halls that it was occupying, dedicated to the study of biomedicine, by centring its Cruise 2023 collection on what is known to be the primary source of natural life as we know it: the sun. With the awe-invoking structure of the building, mixed with a hazy sunset and crystal waters, melting into a golden blaze that set the show alight, onlookers were treated to a nature-induced spectacle that highlighted the collection’s focus, beautifully.

Architecture and glorious symbolism aside, the pieces themselves boasted a unique metamorphic quality, meaning they fluidly moulded to fit the climate at hand. With nomadic sensibilities served up by the feature of linen and more structured, armour-like silhouettes bringing a depth to the collection, it becomes one of elegant boldness, and one of firey and unforgiving beauty, much like its muse.

A fitting ode to the firey star that lies at the heart of our solar system, Louis Vuitton’s sun-centric Cruise collection has us undeniably summer-ready.
