In your sad girl feels? Well, so is SwitchOTR. Dropping his latest single, “Clearest of Signs”, the Croydon-hailed rapper has looked to follow on from the success he experienced with the collaborative hit “Reggae & Calypso”, by dropping the melancholic-toned cut, “Clearest of Signs”. Soul-barring at its core, the rapper gets candid about his innermost thoughts on the track, making it a piece of introspective brilliance.

“In this day and age, it’s the girls that break hearts,” asserts the artist. “Girls think we play them, but they play us, that’s where the hook comes from – ‘scared if your heart gets broken but do darling have you thought about mine?'”

As he looked toward the release of “Clearest Of Signs”, the artist took some time to chat with Wonderland about how the modern-day dating scene inspired his newest cut, the origins of his stage name and an upcoming tracklist sure to be filled with surprises.

Head below to enjoy our interview with Switch OTR…

Hey Switch, how are you doing today? Where are you right now?
I’m fine thanks for asking, you? In-studio working on my project!

Let’s start at the beginning, how did you first get into music?
Growing up I was into football and was pretty good at it as well, but my friendship group was very much into rapping, they use to have a speaker and play instrumental’s, we would all freestyle and put words together that rhyme, and from that moment I started writing my own songs.

And what is the meaning behind the name Switch OTR? How did you come up with it?
Switch comes from my facial expression! My friends and family always say I’m hard to read, my face always switches up and OTR stands for ‘’on the rise ‘’, because that’s my movement.

Congratulations on the release of “Clearest Of Signs”, how are you feeling about the world hearing the new song?
I’m honestly happy because with sample songs, sometimes it takes ages to get approved and sometimes it doesn’t get approved AT ALL! I’m just glad the song is out now for the world to listen to it.

Talk to us about the meaning behind it! Was there a specific inspiration behind the track?
In this day and age, it’s the girls that break hearts haha! Girls think we play them, but they play us, that’s where the hook comes from – ‘scared if your heart gets broken but do darling have you thought about mine?’

And it comes with a music video! What was your time like on set for this?
It was a long day! So basically the night before I had a show booking in a city called Peterborough and had to leave that city super early, also the video’s locations were hours apart. Other than that, it was a fun day, always is on video shoots!

You also have an EP on the way! What can we expect from the theme?
Right now it’s difficult for my audience to put me in a bracket due to the different types of songs I’ve been putting out, after this project has been released, the real SwitchOTR is coming out.

Do you have a favourite track from the project?
I like all of them! I’ll ask you what your favourite is when it comes out though!

Can we expect any collaborations on the project and if not, is there anyone you’d love to work with in the future?
Yeah for sure! I can’t say just yet but it’s a good surprise – you’ll be satisfied with the tracklist!
