Not many can say they have ventured to the last home of Mr Dior, yet the Emily In Paris actor Lucien Laviscount received a personal invitation to explore the grounds of the Chateau de La Colle Noire in partnership with Dior Beauty. With La Collection Privée at the forefront, the shoot captured Lucien in the scenic setting of France, surrounded by the simplistic yet elegant bottles of the capsule’s hero scents — Bois d’Argent and Oud Ispahan.

The first of the two – a uniquely blended unisex fragrance first made in 2004 – is equal parts of spring and autumn, balancing aromas of iris and juniper berries with undertones of wood, honey, vanilla and leather. As for Oud Ispahan, the scent incorporates spicy hues of Damascus Rose with shimmering floral notes — creating an intoxicating day to evening scent. Combined, the scents become an all-encompassing cloak that is soft yet powerful, warm yet intense. Alone, the scents continue to boast their own unique characters — producing one of the most versatile collections of Dior Beauty yet.

Off the back of the spellbinding shoot, Lucien spoke exclusively with us about his experience and gave us an insight into his decision-making formula when choosing his own signature scent. Hey Lucien, how are you doing today?

Tired. Next question! Only joking, it’s been a busy few weeks but I’m feeling really good and I am so happy to be here with you guys!

Let’s start with scents! What do you look for when choosing a fragrance? Do you have a certain criterion?

Fragrance is so important. My go-to is Dior Homme – however, you explain what is in that bottle and that is exactly what I look for when I choose my fragrance!

And what would you say draws you to Dior Parfums most?

Let me just Google Dior Homme… ‘A woody scent with a distinctly sexy signature’. Yes – that! A dark, woody, earthy kind of scent with a hint of sweetness.

What was it like visiting the Chateau de La Colle Noire/Mr Dior’s last home?

It was kind of overwhelming and so incredibly beautiful – it was something out of a fairytale!

Did you take anything away from your experience/the shoot?

I did not steal anything from the house, I promise! But honestly, on a serious note, I think just working with Dior Beauty in general – it’s such a fantastic experience and I think you’ve got such an amazing team. Everyone is super passionate about the brand and it’s just a really beautiful kind of environment to play in, to enjoy, to work in and to be a part of.

Out of the two hero scents of Dior’s La Collection Privée, do you have a favourite?

I’m not sure… probably Bois D’Argent.

Both Bois d’Argent and Oud Ispahan can be worn separately and together. Do you often layer your scents?

I do layer my scents – I’m keen on layering things. I think it’s just like bringing night into day, and day into night, and it can just spice things up a little.

In what ways do the scents differ?

Oud carries that ‘regal’ feel. It feels like a piece of history. It feels like a smell. It smells like a piece of rich history. All the senses! And the Bois d’Argent feels more like the now or the future.

If you were to describe each scent with one word, what would they be and why?
Oud – Regal.
 Bois D’Argent – Tantalizing.

And finally, outside of the La Collection Privée range, what’s another Dior product you couldn’t live without?

The Dior chapstick is next level – it comes with me all the time!
