Let’s just say this: James Chatburn had no right plummeting us into our feels like this. With the melodic “Ok Ok (Be A Man)”, the Berlin-based artist uses his velvety vocals to sing a soul-baring ballad during a state of despair — unsure whether to run from his problems or to stay and stick them out.

With a rhythmic “Ok Ok” laced throughout the entire track, the chilling soundscape rocks you slowly into a state of assurance while unpacking the toxic masculinity that plagues a mans identity— a true testament to Chatburn’s ability to intertwine the complicated elements of the human psyche with stratospheric soundscapes.

In his own words, James explains, ”For the last few years I have been challenging my views on masculinity and how I have perceived myself and other people based on what I had learnt growing up. It’s like looking to the men that you have grown up with, hang out with now, how we have grown, how we haven’t, and who can we really look up to as a role models. It was a just a coincidence that Shari had used me as a model for one of her photographs, it just represented so much, so perfectly in another medium.”
