After what feels like criminally-long foreplay for his forthcoming release, Jack Harlow has finally dropped the full-length version of “First Class” — and though it was only released at midnight, it has already sent us flying. Setting us up for a spell of seduction, the track begins with Jack’s laid-back flow, laced with sultry scaled-down vocals sampled from Fergie’s 2006 banger, “Glamorous”. With sparkling synths and a warming piano melody, Harlow spells out what is to come for his travel companion — carrying a temperament that is addictively flirtatious yet agonisingly withholding.

Evoking all the spine-tingling waves of nostalgia, the track is the ultimate exemplar of Harlow’s ability to create an entire narrative within his tune-crafting. Though much of “First Class” feels like an intimate scene between two lovers, the subtle R&B tendencies keep us in a state of reminiscence — including Jack himself who reflects on the journey that brought him to where he is today. Driving this idea home, the track also comes with an official visualizer, filled with candid polaroids of the people Jack has met along the way to stardom.

Having transformed from a viral snippet to a certified classic anthem, “First Class” marks a turning point for the Louisville rapper, who in tow with his smooth flow has become our torchlight for the ultimate summer soundtrack. And with his highly anticipated album Come Home The Kids Miss You due to drop on May 6th, we will be flying “First Class” every day until then.
