Emerging as a solo artist, Sophia Saffarian dips her toes into a sensual pool of pop, soul and glittering R&B with debut single “What I Need”. Releasing the single along with an ethereal visual, the artist-on-the-rise features solo in an intimate headshot, as multiple frames lapse into one under a heavy beat and cloud-like vocals. The singer appears to be having an out-of-body experience as she details the internal struggle between choosing what she should want and what she really wants.

The single was produced by Sophia’s close friend Pierre Media, who has also supported the likes of Alicia Keys and Usher. When elaborating on the motivation behind her first debut, Sophia explains “What I Need” is about, “Fighting that feeling of being drawn towards something that you know deep down isn’t right for you – whether that be a romantic relationship, friendship, an addiction or any other situation really. It’s the internal battle between head and heart – knowing you’re on the brink of giving in.”

Writing, recording and arranging vocals by herself, the track is the first of many in which Sophia has brought into existence, and will be releasing in the near future independently. Achieving such a distinctive and respectable sound from the off, Sophia’s music commands attention, and is for sure a force to be reckoned with.
