With storm Corrie serving as a reminder that winter in the UK is still very much a thing, we cannot help but daydream about the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, infused with five days worth of world-class techno and house. What prompted this very niche fantasy, you may ask? Well, the SXM Festival has just announced the phase one lineup for their 2022 event, and it proves to be the most explosive yet.

From March 9-13, SXM will host some of the top names in the underground techno and house scenes, with the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Steve Bug, Chloé Caillet and Jan Blomqvist all taking to the stage. With guests invited to split their time between serene tropical beaches, soirées aboard luxurious boats and, of course, the dancefloor, they will be treated to the ultimate festival experiences as the days and nights promise to blur into a truly unforgettable experience.

While the music is sure to captivate, and the parties, entertain, arguably one of the most striking features of SXM Festival is its set-up. While we are accustomed to a main stage being nothing more than a rudimentary steel contraption situated in the muddy parks of London, the one awaiting festival-goers in Saint Martin looks a little different. A jungle-bound private beach named Happy Bay serves as the backdrop for the Arc Main stage, set to host some of the lineup’s most coveted names. And, while the tropical haven is a must-see during the festival’s course, heading over to Karakter, which overlooks the crystal waters of the Caribbean sea, or the calming Boho Beach Cub will provide you with just as much of a magical experience.

While all of the above is enough to render the festival one of the most thrilling of the year, this is not where its impressive nature ends. With the preservation of its luscious setting in mind, SXM has set out on an important green mission that includes initiatives to go paperless, induct LED and solar lights into its shows, and eliminate plastic waste.
