2022 is bringing with it many things, from the prospect of new beginnings to hotly-anticipated movie releases and, according to the news, plenty more hype-worthy fashion collaborations. But, above all, the one thing we are most excited about is the revamp our Spotify playlists are going to receive as some of the UK’s fastest rising musical talents set out to treat the world to a slice of their incomparable sound. With this in mind, we could not think of a better way to kick off the new year than by introducing you to the artists set to dominate the music industry in 2022. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy Wonderland’s Ones To Watch round-up.

Meet p-rallel. The 21-year-old West London native is currently shaking up this city’s music scene with his masterful DJ skills and has been making a name for himself throughout the pandemic with help from his wildly-adored cuts such as “soulboy” and “1985”, as well as his freshly-released “Belive” remix. With a new year now upon us, the artist on the rise took some time out of his busy schedule to reflect on his journey so far, and anticipate what the future holds for him. Head below to enjoy p-rallel’s Ones To Watch interview…

I AM p-rallel

BORN AND RAISED IN West London

THE FIRST RECORD I FIRST FELL IN LOVE WAS Missy Elliot and Timbaland – “Bounce”

NOW IT REMINDS ME OF back in the day when I used to dance.

MY BIGGEST INFLUENCES ARE Michael Jackson and my friends. They are the only two I can really think of right now loool.

VISUALLY, I’M INSPIRED BY Gasper Noel, Studio Ghibili & TheRest.

I HOPE MY MUSIC MAKES PEOPLE feel some sense of emotion.

MY SUPERPOWER IS writing the future.

ONE PIECE OF ADVICE THAT’S STUCK WITH ME IS actions speak louder than words.

THE BEST GIG I’VE EVER SEEN WAS Chemical Brothers, 2019 at Glastonbury.

THE BEST CROWD I’VE EVER PLAYED WAS Warehouse Project 2021.

THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION ABOUT ME IS that I just DJ.

MY BIGGEST LEARNING CURVE OF 2021 WAS being outside too much.

FROM LAST YEAR, I’M YEAR PROUD OF starting my album.

I’M EVOLVING INTO an artist. Not just a DJ.

I WON’T COMPROMISE ON my art.

THE FUTURE OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS unknown, but hope it works out in my favour – needs to be like the 90s again.

AS AN INDUSTRY, WE NEED TO care about the mental health of the artists.

BRING BACK not having to give so much of yourself to the public just to sell music.

GEN Z IS me.

AT MIDNIGHT ON NYE, I WAS WISHING FOR all my people to have a great success.

A SONG I HAD ON REPEAT IN 2021 WAS “wicked! sexy!” by Odunsi.

SONG I’M BRINGING INTO 2022 “Plastic 100C” by Sampha.

BEING INCLUDED AS ONE OF WONDERLAND’S ONES TO WATCH MAKES ME FEEL like I’m doing it right.

MY NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION IS to keep inspiring.

NEXT YEAR I WILL be dropping a lot more music than I did this year.

NEXT YEAR YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO just me and my friends’ music.

NEXT YEAR I HOPE WE CAN ALL survive this pandemic, it’s dragging, I’m over it….
