Lending his acoustic folk-rock tone to a festive classic, Newton Faulkner unveils “Driving Home For Christmas”. Ensuring that listeners are transported into the depths of their snowy hometowns during the festive period, the classic anthem has been covered in a folksy blanket, complete with the gentle twang of the electric guitar, culminating in the ultimate Christmas tune. But, while different in sound, Newton has ensured that the song stays true to the original’s melodic tune and heart-warming lyricism, attributes which catapulted it to the top of the Christmas chart.

And, while already undeniably sweet in nature, the feature of Cat Rea, niece of the song’s original creator, and her stunning vocal range ensures that it becomes all the more worthy of praise.

“I got together with Cat, niece of Chris Rea, to make a new version of ‘Driving Home For Christmas’ that is true to the song but also brings it up to update production-wise. One of the biggest challenges was the often-cut instrumental section, which turned out to be my favourite bit in the end. The finished thing is exactly what I wanted it to be, a Christmas song that I have always loved with a tonne of fresh, modern production twists and stunning vocals from Cat Rea.”
