As the industry looks to resurrect itself, bursting with fresh ideas and new direction, it is fair to say that music has never looked so different. After a period of self-reflection and honing in on what truly matters, the outcome is a new age of music that sees singers, songwriters and producers alike making what can only be described as art.

Michael Anthony, a Chicago-based musician, filmmaker and modern-day romantic is doing just that with the premiere of “Diversity Noire”’, the first of what will become a series of poetic fragments delving deeper into the debate on diversity, art and human nature. Seen through Michael’s multi-talented lens, the thought-provoking film is being released under R&S Records, the iconic Belgian independent dance label and explores ideas surrounding ethnography and anthropology, Michael’s two main points of interest.

“Diversity in the world is a basic characteristic of human society, and also the key condition for a lively and dynamic world as we see today,” explains Michael. “This short visual encapsulates people of colour marrying the personal and political, with the intention of highlighting social circumstances. ‘Diversity’ as a word itself is an art piece to explore for all of us. Each culture, sub culture and ethnicity must attempt to figure out how true diversity benefits the collective and how it relates to constructing a world free of limitations.”

While also an established name in the R&B collective THEMPeople, Michael is now looking to branch out as he prepares his upcoming solo project, due to be released in early 2022. With fans like Renaat Vandepapeliere, founder of R&S Records who has nurtured artists such as Aphex Twin and James Blake, the new year couldn’t come any sooner.
