When it comes to creating your own lane, no one is doing it quite like James Mantis, and his new EP “JAB STEP POP” proves this. Between the oscillating synths and psychedelic ear-worming bass lines, the artist propels us into his own intimate soundscape that brims with unexpectedness and surprise. Keeping us on our toes, Mantis taps in a selection of genres through out the project, effortlessly winding between indie-pop sensibilities and alt-R&B. Showcasing his ability to play with a selection of sounds and textures, the EP without a doubt proves the artist creative spectrum as he invites us into his laid-back atmosphere.
Speaking on the track “SEVEN MILES”, the artist revealed, “I think I had the best time writing Seven Miles because I was away from everything, secluded in a beach house on the water like it was a literal dream location to write a song. That song feels the most free and Open on the EP and it’s about just not giving a fuck because I’m far away from the bullshit.”
With his streaming numbers already in the millions, James Mantis is set for a takeover in 2022.
