Truly experimental in sound, genres boundaries are ignored as listeners are invited to bask in the track’s hip-hop sensibilities and electronic production. And, while the track’s tone is infectious in nature, that doesn’t detract from its messaging, which is laced with no-nonsense empowering lyrics set to inspire those who indulge in them.

When speaking on the track, Dragonfruit divulged, “‘Digital Princess’ is a song about female empowerment, or empowerment of any kind, if you will. It’s about coming to terms with who you are and celebrating that. In the words of RuPaul, ‘If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?’ But not only that, if you don’t love and accept yourself, how can you expect anyone else to do so? So again, celebrate yourself. Reflect and recognise what you like and don’t like. Come to terms with what you can’t change, and change what you can if you want to.”

While the track itself is enough to warrant some serious hype around the band, that is not where the exciting releases stop. With “Digital Princess” falling straight out of the four-piece’s hotly-anticipated debut album, Gears of the Giant Machine, the track becomes all the more impressive. Set to carve out a unique space for themselves in the industry, Dragonfruit is a band that you shouldn’t be sleeping on.
