When thinking on some of the most awe-invoking fashion moments from over the last year, the mind instantly goes to the now-iconic Balenciaga-hacked Gucci collection. With the beautifully blended display from the two houses setting a brand new tone for the future of collaborative fashion, it was only a matter of time until two fellow infamous houses jumped on the hype-worthy trend. And, this is exactly what Versace and Fendi did this weekend.
In a first-of-its-kind move, Artistic Director and Chief Creative Officer, Kim Jones and Donatella Versace, have switched roles in a bid to bless the world with the print-laden and party-ready dream that is Fendace. Drawing on the much-craved notion of post-pandemic togetherness, the two houses have looked to the joyous emotions of Freedom, Fun and Virtuosity to ensure that a playful air washed over their creations as a history-making move from Donatella has seen her take her primary steps in designing for another fashion house.
