As another week in September draws to a close, many of us are looking towards the weekend in search of some respite. But, this is most definitely not the case for the fashion world. Riding off of the coat-tails of the always glamorous London Fashion Week, the industry has now descended upon the cobbled streets of Milan to enjoy another set of Fashion Week festivities. And, while many shows are highly anticipated throughout the Italy-based affair, arguably one of the most sought-after collections of the season is FENDI’s.

With the mastermind that is Kim Jones being called on to craft this year’s Ready To Wear Women’s SS22 display for the Italian house, onlookers at its most recent catwalk were treated to a dose of disco fever as the coveted designer rummaged around in both the archives and the depths of Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy for inspiration. And, as the glamour of the Studio 54-era presented itself in modern form, a celebratory tone for the feminity-focused affair was set.

“This is my first live show for FENDI, and it’s a celebration. Our woman has let loose a bit – she’s going out, dressing up. We’ve all been locked away for so long that I think that’s what we all need right now,” explains Kim Jones when speaking on the joyous theme of his newest collection.

And, with the disco-infused theme of the collection confirmed, all that was left was the clothes themselves. And, they did not disappoint. From pastel-filled illustrations courtesy of the infamous Antonio Lopez and Juan Ramos adorning rippling kaftans and over-the-knee boots to silky sharp-collared blazer and bralette combos – regardless of if you are heading to the club or a rooftop-bound dinner, Fendi’s SS22 collection ensures that you will do so in vibrant style. And, to ensure that the party continued in the accessories department, fur-trimmed heels were in abundance, and the brand’s iconic bags became a clean slate for Jones as he splashed graphic artwork and woven rainbows across their fronts.

A truly innovative collection inspired by the nightlife, both past and present, Kim Jones and Fendi have most certainly got us in the mood to party.
