The VMAs always hold the promise of stellar performances, killer looks and plenty of drama. And, this year’s awards did not disappoint. Whether it was Lil Nas X and Chloe Bailey turning it out with sizzling live performances or Kourtney Kardashian, Megan Fox and Conor McGregor stirring up some drama, the 2021 VMAs provided the internet with plenty to feast on. With that being said, head below to enjoy the best moments from last night’s festivities…

Megan Fox and Kourtney Kardashian introduced their baby daddies

In the name of fuelling tabloid and fan speculation, when it came time to announces Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker ahead of their performance, Megan Fox introduced the pair as their “future baby daddies” – we love the drama-bating!

Blue Ivy and Beyoncé made history – again

By now, we are all well aware that breaking records and making history is in Beyoncé’s nature. And, this year’s VMAs proved this. Picking up her 30th VMA for “Brown Skin Girl”, the star cemented her place as the most decorated VMA winner in history. And, Beyoncé wasn’t the only one of the Carter clan making waves last night. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Blue Ivy made history with her first VMA win, as she now stands as the youngest person to ever receive an award!

What is the VMAs without a little drama?

We are not sure what Machine Gun Kelly and Conor McGregor have to fight about, but regardless, we are living for the drama and drinks-throwing.

Olivia Rodrigo made it known that she has been hitting the gym

Olivia Rodrigo’s angst has been the talking point of the year, and her VMA performance has only added fuel to this particular fire. Whilst her live rendition of “good 4 u” was infectiously moody throughout, its finale saw the pop star smash a camera screen, proving that her vim knows no bounds. We love you Olivia, but we do not envy your exs.

Chloe Bailey put on the debut of the century

Chloe Bailey’s debut steps into the world of solo music have been a joy to witness, and after dropping “Have Mercy” last week, the star made it clear that her solo career is going to be a successful one. Now, thanks to her intensely energetic performance at the VMAs, which was filled with hair flips and twerking galore, that has only become more clear. Also, can we take a minute to appreciate that microphone lick, please?

We are now Normani and Teyana Taylor shippers

Normani knows how to put on a show. And, while her sultry performance of “Wild Side” was enough to warrant her one of the best performers of last night, it was the ending dance sequence – or should we say grinding sequence – that stole the show. Dancing on a platform-bound Teyana Taylor, Normani had fans going wild over what is now our new OTP.

As per usual, Lil Nas X turned it out

There was only one way to finish this year’s round-up, and it was by paying tribute to Lil Nas X’s performance. Was there an extravagant choreographed dance? Yes. Was there wildly camp outfits? Yes. Were we completely obsessed with the whole thing? Yes.
