Nightshifts is back with his atmospheric new track, “Beach”. Commencing with the hum of a romantic guitar, listeners are transported into an other-worldly space, filled with Andrew Oliver’s – aka Nightshifts’s – honey-like vocals. And, with phased synthesizers building towards a crashing crescendo, the piece becomes wholly transportive as the artist welcomes us into a world, dreamed up by his imagination.
“I wanted the chill verses to mimic a calm and steady reality, and the hyper choruses to be a technicolour imagining of this impossible, fantasised other life paths,” explains the artist before going on to comment on the track’s meaning, claiming that, “I have a tendency to daydream, to second guess choices I’ve made in the past, and to think about what could have been.”
While “Beach” is a track that is planting Nightshifts firmly on the musical map, this is not the first we are hearing of him. After being awarded praise from Justin Verno following the release of a remix of Bon Iver’s “Michicant”, the artist propelled himself towards a domination of the indie genre, which saw him gain millions of Spotify streams. So, if you are looking for a new artist to add to your playlists, look no further than Nightshifts.
