The sun is out, the clubs are open, and Wonderlist is back – what more could you ask for? From new rap albums courtesy of Dave and Avelino set to keep music fans fed for the rest of the summer to an infectious single from Belly, The Weeknd and Young Thug and Camila Cabello‘s long-awaited return, head below to enjoy this week’s new music round-up…

Dave – We’re All Alone in This Together

Because we are feeling extremely generous today, kicking things off this week is not just a single, but a whole album courtesy of UK rap royalty Dave. With the run-up to the release of We’re All Alone in This Together having been a long one filled with teasers and speculation, fans are rejoicing in the knowledge that they can finally bask in all 12 tracks of the rapper’s new project. Boasting the poetic and emotion-inducing lyricism that the artist is known for mixed with manipulated samples and features from the likes of Stormzy and James Blake, tracks such as “In The Fire” and “Heart Attack” have already become fan favourites.

Belly, The Weeknd, Young Thug – “Better Believe”

This week, music fans were treated to the trio that would end all trios as The Weeknd, Young Thug, and Belly came together for track “Better Believe”. While all the artists possess wildly diverse sounds, the heavenly vocals served up by The Weeknd mixed with Young Thug’s whiney raps and Belly’s old school sound result in a balanced cacophony of sounds and genres which culminate in a season-defining track. We will definitely be running this one up this weekend!

Camila Cabello – “Don’t Go Yet”

It has been a big week for ex-Fifth Harmony members. With Normani finally dropping the highly-anticipated “Wild Side”, we thought that we had already been over-treated. But, Camilla Cabello is here to prove that is not the case as she reveals her new single “Don’t Go Yet”. Standing as an overdue release from the star, Camilla pays homage to her Cuban roots in the track and its accompanying music video, which is a true family affair. Filled with infectious dancing and joyous instrumentation, the song has the world thoroughly excited at the prospect of the other dance-worthy pop anthems that are sure to grace her upcoming album Familia.

James Blake – “Say What You Will”

A new drop from James Blake is a precious thing. With the multi-faceted artist and producer standing as one of the most sought after names in the industry, it is easy to understand why his new releases stir up such a buzz, which is exactly what has happened with the track “Say What You Will”. Putting on a sparkling display of his emotion-drenched vocals that offer a masterful range, the artist enhances his sound with laid-back production and THAT high note. Accompanied by a music video starring Billie Eilish’s brother FINNEAS, the project is a fantastical insight into the life and mind of the uber-talented James Blake.

Avelino – EGO KILLS

Offering high-energy tracks and features from some of the biggest names in rap, Avelino drops his explosive album EGO KILLS. Serving up everything from bars filled with literal lyrics and his statement vocals to melodies that sing out introspective confessions, the artist provides a true range. And, with the likes of Yungen, Not3s, Wretch 32, and Krept also gracing the project, it is already establishing itself as one of the biggest releases of the summer.

Zhu – “Monster”

Calling on the producer to the stars John The Blind, electronic artist Zhu drops the production-heavy track “Monster”. Smooth-sounding and layered with powerhouse vocals, the track is the ultimate party song that has graced streaming services just in time for the opening of clubs. Should you be in search of that Friday feeling or heading out this weekend, this is the track for you.

j ember – “Killer Killer”

An artist on a mission to establish himself as a rising voice within indie-pop is j ember with his irresistibly chilled track, “Killer Killer”. The type of track to be played on repeat during a sun-soaked road trip, the relaxed strum of the guitar and chaotic drumming culminating in a care-free noise. And, with lockdown boredom standing as the inspiration for this particular track, its reliability makes it all the more exciting.

AURORA – “Cure For Me”

Norwegian artist AURORA is here to enchant with her new track “Cure For Me”. Letting her other-worldly vocals lead the way, juxtaposing plinky production give the track a unique sound that promises to captivate listeners from the first note. With the track based around the premise of breaking free from shame and shutting out the doubters, the almost undescribable sounds of the song make sense. And, with a trippy music video featuring masked figures partaking in choreographed dances, the track is made all the more weird and wonderful.

Grace Davies – “Toothbrush”

Ensuring that no one gets too carried away with hot girl summer, Grace Davies drops the heartbreak anthem “Toothbrush”. Pondering all of the post-heartbreak thoughts that race through the mind during emotionally turbulent times, listeners can get lost in the synth-filled pop soundscape that stands as a foundation to Grace’s sickly-sweet vocals in the emotive track. It looks like it really is sad girl summer!
