Continuing on with its pioneering foray into the world of sustainable fashion, Gucci unveils its joyous A Place of Our Own campaign video as it celebrates the release of its eco-friendly Off The Grid Collection.
To honour the first drop from the Italian house’s Gucci Circular Lines, Creative Director Alessandro Michele called on director Sam Olanipeku and A Vibe Called Tech – the creative agency exploring Black creativity, culture and innovation – to produce a campaign video filled with utopian bliss. Following the connection of a carefree couple with each other and the serene landscape of Portugal that acts as their background, the intimate video offers scenes that explore the reality of present-day Black joy and the hopes for a prosperous future environment. Seamless Gucci motif-ladened accessories from the new collection crafted from ECONYL® regenerated nylon and featuring recycled brass, recycled gold and palladium, co-star in the film in a display of fine craftsmanship and sustainable fashion done right.
“It was really important to us to look at sustainability as a source of joy and balance and as something that nourishes the Black community,” explains A Vibe Called Tech founder Charlene Prempeh when speaking on the collaborative video. “What we love about Gucci Off the Grid is that it doesn’t compromise on design or aesthetics which reminds us that choosing the environment and choosing what we love can and should be the same thing. The love story here is the same: being at one with the earth and the person we love are inseparable experiences and in both the film and photographs, there is a sense of peace that comes when that synergy is realised.”
