Eating: The Mezcaleria, KOL Restaurant
There’s been more rumours about the mezcal worm than there have about Boris Johnson using UK taxpayers’ money to fund his Deliveroo addiction. It makes you trip. It gets you drunker. It’s an aphrodisiac. Put all urban legends aside and at the bottom of the deliciously oak-aged barrel is just the distilled agave-derived spirit, pure and simple, coming up in popularity – and buzzy Mexican restaurant KOL in the heart of London’s Marylebone is paying homage to the good stuff with their brand new cocktail arm Mezcaleria. Octopus tostada and truffle quesadilla antojitos lined my stomach as chef wunderkind Santiago Lastra came over to assure our table, “mezcal sets you free.” A sloe mezcal Negroni, Volcan Blanco tequila martini and three potent shots of the smoky stuff later and I can confirm the mysterious adage to be true.

Buying: Adidas Tennis Luxe
Top five favourite pastime? Pretending to be Serena Williams, vengeful grunts and all, absolutely any time I’m called upon to enter a tennis court. Thanks to Adidas, there’s just no need to play pretend (and exasperate your mates) any longer, as their heavenly Tennis Luxe drop is giving your summer looks a courtside advantage. Favourites include the drop-skirt kilt dress, the cropped polo in the softest of lemon-yellows and the white sweat with rackets on it, because who doesn’t love-fifteen to be on the nose?

Beauty: Blue Tit Dalston
I take no pride in saying that I let lockdown get the better of my hair maintenance. Housemates, boyfriend and anyone willing to pick up a pair of scissors all took turns having a hack (including one ill-advised incident we’ll refer to as the “double bleacher” that left me looking like Hagrid from Harry Potter). Thankfully this week I got the Cinderella treatment from the hair whizzes at Blue Tit in their gleaming Dalston branch. First, a consultation with one of their leading colourists and stylists. Next, a selective bleach to vanquish the horrid roots, some Olaplex to repair all the frizz, lush toner to remove the copper tones, and a snip later, I emerged onto the streets of Dalston in a heavenly-scented cloud like a new woman.

Music: Brockhampton
Brockhampton’s upcoming breakup has got me in my feels. With a love for the hip-hop collective stemming from my A-level days and the song “Sugar” reaching the number 1 spot of my list of most played songs on Spotify last year, having their albums on repeat has become normal – especially since I bagged tickets to see them for their 2020 show (which will now be going ahead in 2022 *sigh*). Since my last fangirl phase was all about Harry, Niall, Liam, Louis and Zayn, it is only fair that my next one is all about the “best boyband since One Direction”.

TV: Friends Reunion
I am one of those people who loves to comfort watch a series. And when it comes to Friends, my ability to recall quotes and predict an episode’s events upon the first scene tells you all you need to know about my obsession with the infamous sitcom. So, when the news broke that the show’s band of hilarious New Yorkers were set to return to the couches of Central Perk, no words could describe my excitement. With the reunion planted firmly at the top of my weekend’s watch list, I am sure I will be delving back into past seasons for the remainder of the month.

Beauty: Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in shade “Chocolate Milkshake” (as a blusher)
I am always down to explore new beauty trends and, thanks to TikTok, there are plenty to go around. My favourite? Cream blushers, or, should I say, liquid lipsticks as cream blushers. While the notion of smearing a lip product across my skin felt unnatural at first, after a couple of experimental make-up sessions and a delve into my 2018 Kylie-Jenner inspired collection of nude lipsticks, I re-discovered my now-discontinued Too Faced Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in shade “Chocolate Milkshake”. With the nude tones replacing the harsher pinks on powder blushers that clash with my skin tone, the lipstick has been effortless to work into my base makeup routine and has become a go-to for both natural and dramatic looks.

Listening: Sour
Sadly, I’m no longer in my teens. Thankfully, I’m no longer heartbroken about the first love that – as with all teenage heartbreaks – I thought would also be my last . So why do I still latch onto every tear-soaked, love-drenched lyric Olivia Rodrigo sings on her debut album Sour? At 25-years-old, I might add. Has hot girl summer just become heartbreak summer? Hope not, but it’s worth a trip to my childhood bedroom just to get all nostalgic – MP3 player entangled and firmly in tow.

Beauty: Glossier Futuredew
Skincare is something I like to think I’m good at, but never actually get round to doing. So if, like me, you’re after maximum results with minimal effort, I present to you Glossier’s holy-grail of a bottled-up-glow with the amount of dew weighing down a freshly-cut lawn on a misty morning, aptly named: Futuredew. With nourishing oils and powerful plant-based extracts to make your skin look brighter over time, you’ll never look back. Thank me later!

Doing: Satan’s Whiskers
Between too many sticky pints and over-priced cocktails, I always find myself back at the dimly-lit, intimate interior of Satan’s Whiskers. A willy-wonka factory of all the cocktails your heart desires and enough taxidermy to rival a countryside cottage, it has all the mischief of a prohibition bar, but it’s totally, wonderfully, legal.

Watching: Made In Chelsea
Like The Saturdays on Red Nose Day in 2008, I just can’t get enough of Made In Chelsea. Watching Lucy Watson mercilessly chew up these wannabe reality TV stars week in week out is quite literally feeding my soul. I’ve steamed through around five series over the past week, and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon. I wish my life came with a gold filter…

Buying: Wales Bonner x Adidas SambaI
I can’t lie, I cheekily bought these as a treat for finishing my biggest hand-in at University, but a month early. Having to wait until I actually, you know, did the work and submitted it was super painful, but I took them out for a spin on Monday and they were absolutely divine!

Beauty: Byredo’s Mixed Emotions Perfume
This scent is EVERYTHING. My boyfriend got it as a gift and I keep stealing it, I love it so much I’m gonna have to go give it a spritz right now, BRB… The mix of woody notes with the floral (the only perfume jargon I picked up from working at Jo Malone) is just absolutely scrumptious, you’ll have all the boys nibbling on your neck once they get a whiff.

Watching: Baddies ATL
I know, I know it is essentially trash TV, but Bad Girls Club birthed some of the most iconic personalities in TV history. From rapper Dreamdoll to presenter Tanisha Thomas, the show has made stars out of regular people and we’ve finally got a mass reunion with some of the greatest all-stars. Natalie Nunn, Mehgan James, Judi Ja and Janelle Shanks? I feel like I’m back in year seven again.

Listening: City Girls – “Twerkulator”
I’m not ashamed to say I’ve been listening to the one-minute snippet on repeat for months on YouTube, and finally, after MONTHS of pleading, I can stream to my heart’s content. Dropping last week, our two favourite Miami natives dropped this year’s summer anthem that is sure to dominate day parties and clubs come June 21. Get your squats in from now.

Eating: The Rum Kitchen, Brixton
Since I’m still technically a London newbie, having moved during the pandemic late last year, I’m still venturing out and try new places, and The Rum Kitchen in Brixton is THEE spot for drinks, food, and vibes. Boasting an authentic Caribbean menu, the restaurant and bar serve up an incredible menu that has me wishing I was back in JA. Make sure to go Thursday – Sunday, because that live DJ is enough to give Tim Westwood a run for his money.
