After months of speculation and the release of possible album titles, Lana Del Rey finally broke the bombshell news that she has her album Blue Banisters set for release on July 4th a few weeks ago, which sent fans and the TL into a frenzy. And, while we were gearing ourselves up for July to be the month of sad girl summer drops, Lana had other plans as she surprised us with the release of three tracks from the album last night – and, none of us were prepared.
“Blue Banisters”, “Text Book” and “Wildflower Wildfire” are the three “buzz tracks” taken from the new album and stand as our first insight as to what we can expect from it. With each song written by the singer herself, they exude all of the key elements synonymous with her past offerings. Heartbreak-fuelled lyrics, stripped back acoustics, twinkling piano keys and Lana’s ethereal vocals are at the forefront of each track, allowing fans to get a taste of their beloved star in all of her glory. And, with each release accompanied by a slightly altered version of the album’s cover, which have been washed over with varying pastel hues and a watercolour effect, we are ready to receive the barrage of word art visuals and dramatic old-school videos that are sure to accompany the tear-inducing sounds of her new music.
The upcoming album will be the singer’s 8th studio release and comes as her second album drop of the year following on from her wildly successful project Chemtrails Over The Country Club. And, now that we have had our first taste of the upcoming sorrow-drenched project, we are preparing ourselves for July, as we know we are going to be sent straight into our feels upon its release.
