Okay guys, pack up your things and clear out your desk, because queen Nicki Minaj has returned to show everyone who’s really in charge of the rap game. If you haven’t noticed, this past year Miss Minaj has been ominously quiet with the news of her father passing and the birth of her newborn baby son occupying her time. But with the rap game becoming more and more TikTok influenced, the queen decided the time was right to make her grand return.

Teasing the end of her hiatus earlier this week, the legendary rapper took to IG Live in the early hours of Friday morning to announce the re-release of her debut mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty. Celebrating its 12th anniversary this year, the mixtape has never been on stream platforms, but fans have still dubbed the project as Nicki at her most raw and unapologetic. Featuring Barb favourite and cultural reset tune “Itty Bitty Piggy”, the mixtape also comes alongside three new singles – “Seeing Green” ft Drake & Lil Wayne, “Fractions” and “Crocodile Teeth”.

Getting candid on the passing of her father and suffering from writer’s block, Nicki invited Young Money label mate and frequent collaborator Drake to the live, where she revealed that the only reason she came out of her hiatus, was because of the Certified Lover Boy.

During the IG Live, the rapper also teased that her new album is “coming soon”. Late last year, an HBO six-part documentary about the rapper’s life was also teased, but no release date, title or information have been revealed.
