When it comes to movies, A24 never misses. After bringing us unparalleled big screen offerings such as Uncut Gems and Minari, many of us were fooled into thinking they couldn’t top themselves. Well, in a bid to remind us that the best is yet to come, the entertainment company has just dropped the official trailer for their wildly-anticipated movie The Green Knight.
With tolling church bells marking the ominous tone of the trailer, we are offered a fleeting look at Dev Patel in his role as King Arthur’s unruly nephew Sir Gawain as the clip commences. After flashing scenes of royal meetings and witchcraft ceremonies, things quickly escalate as we see the chilling Green Knight enter. Taking us on a whirlwind journey filled with beheadings, mythical creatures and bloodshed, the trailer offers a pulsating soundtrack and pensive monologues ringing over the medieval imagery. With the film’s plot centred around King Arthur’s nephew and his journey to prove himself to his doubting family and subjects, the movie’s trailer has only confirmed the promise of duals, torturous quests and plenty of drama as our heroine embarks on an adventure to confront the Knight, who is characterised as “a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men.”
