We all love a good rant to our friends when things don’t go our way, and while sometimes we might be looking for solutions, other times people will input their unsolicited “advice” that you really didn’t need. Channelling these emotions into a playful new cut is Berlin-hailed three-piece Varley with “Push Pull”. Filling the feel-good indie-pop production with effervescent vocals and smooth rhythms, the group ride the synth-heavy beat and offer up a single that instantly gets you in the mood for summer.
“’Push Pull’ is our tongue-in-cheek response to the unsolicited and sometimes disheartening advice we have received over the years,” the band explained. “It was born out of the frustrations that come when people think they know you better than you know yourself or that they know what’s best for you and how this often left us feeling like we were being pushed and pulled in a thousand different directions. Especially being raised in a society where girls are expected to always be nice and polite, this is our way to break free from that and speak our mind.”
The group’s latest release comes with the announcement that their debut album will be released later this year, and will be including their previous single “Bubble Up”. The trio consisting of Claire-Ann, Joschka Bender and Matthias Heising released their debut EP “Phantom Studies” two years ago and if that project is anything to go by, then we’re in for a real treat.
