Gracie Ella Lady

Toronto-born singer-songwriter Gracie Ella is here to craft the most delectable R&B cuts for our ears – and do a flawlessly job of it too. Raised on a healthy mix of Céline Dion, the dad-rock vibes of Guns N’ Roses, and R&B’s many many legendary souls – from Lauryn Hill to De’Angelo – Ella has found a way to work her musical icons into all that she does. She also believes that music has the power to unlock us from our own prisons, a musing she tackles on her latest track –– “Lady”.

The song hinges on the singer’s interpretation of loyalty. “It’s what I believe a bond is,” Ella says, “a love so strong that it’s written in the stars. You never had to try, you are just willing to give. There is nothing to worry about, even when there is!” Having previously been in a dark place in life, Ella would always dream of loving someone this deeply, so why not make a song about what that would feel like?

“I’m your lady, and I’ll always be there,” she croons on the track’s mesmeric chorus, dipping in between electrifying guitar riffs, some sparse, some in full-on jam session territory. Commanding the attention of the room and her listener with blissful ease, this kind of classic, slow-grooving pop doesn’t just grow on trees, so take in every bit that you can.
