Norway-hailing newcomer Fijitrip is entering the scene with a bang. Having made his debut during the depths of the pandemic, it is safe to say that his beginnings have not been as conventional as those that have come before him, but this has not stopped him from releasing electrifying bops. Continuing on from his musical debut, the artist offers his latest single “Private Social Network”. Acting as an embodiment of the hyperpop genre, the track features twangy guitars gliding over thumping electronic beats – all the while accompanied by Fijitrip’s grungy vocals.
“I released music for the first time ever in April 2020 – in the middle of a global pandemic – and I will do the same this time around,” states Fijitrip when reflecting on his career past and future. “I’m genuinely looking forward to a future where I can plan an album cycle where it’s normal to play shows again, now it’s all a big pause. Hopefully, I can help someone with my art and music living a bit tough right now (as we all do), someone might connect with it on a more personal level, that’s what I aspire to.”
Upon the release of his new single, the singer has also offered his fans accompanying visuals. The video is a hazy affair, filled with flashing motifs of our time – including IG posts and keyboards to name a few – and Fijitrip singing intensely into the camera – it is giving us major The Weekend at the Super Bowl vibes. With his work offering very relatable social comments, Fijitrip step into the realm in which Brockhampton lives – one which is filled with chaos, trippy visuals and immaculate musical offerings. And, with “Private Social Network” being pulled from the artist’s unnamed upcoming project, we cannot wait to see what he does next.
