Our summer reading list just got longer as Michaela Coel has announced that she’ll be publishing her debut book in September this year. Titled Misfits: A Personal Manifesto, Coel is set to recount various personal anecdotes from her life and work over the past few years.
According to her publisher, the official synopsis reads that it will draw up Coel’s 2018 MacTaggart Lecture at Edinburgh TV Festival, where she discusses racism and sexual assault she’d experienced in the industry.
In a statement, the commissioning editor at publisher Ebury revealed that her debut draws on the same ideas as her hit TV shows Chewing Gum and I May Destroy You and will be bringing Michaela’s unique voice to a whole new audience.
