If there is one thing that we will happily thank 2020 for, it’s the meteoric rise of Meg Thee Stallion. From coining the term hot girl shit to her sexy collaboration with Queen Bey for “Savage”, the rapper has dominated the rap game and we’re 100% here for it.

Having first broke onto the scene with her fierce TL-breaking “Houston Cypher”, the rapper has gone on to collaborate with Cardi B, Ariana Grande and rap-game favourite DaBaby to create chart-topping hits that the world just can’t get enough of. With the Houston Hottie celebrating her 26th birthday today, we’re counting down some of her best moments over the years – Meg, this is for you!

The infamous freestyle

The hair. The bars. The body. Meg ate up this beat and left no crumbs for her “Stalli Freestyle”, quickly asserting herself as a key player in the not just female rap game, but male too. Throwing shots at every hater in line, the rapper set the bar for up and coming rappers and no one has challenged her since for good reason.

HER KNEES

Let’s be real, it’s an undisputed fact that Meg has industrial strength in her knees. Just one quick glance at any of her dance videos on YouTube will induce tiredness and leave your knees feeling worn out before you’ve even attempted. Without a breath wasted or a beat missed, Meg defies the laws of balance and effortlessly twerks while rapping in heels and leaves us all feeling breathless.

Hottie Bootcamp

If you take yourself back to April last year, Chloe Ting and her workouts took over our lives with “Total Abs Shred” and “Hourglass Figure” challenges becoming a focal part of our quarantine routine. But with the prospect of us coming out of lockdown this year looking very real, we need to up the anti and Meg came through with her Hottie Bootcamp. Taking us alongside her fitness journey, the rapper shows us all her workouts in order to stay fit and get that summer body-ody.

It’s no secret that the rapper has been collecting features like infinity stones over the past year, with features from Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj and SZA. With all these features already tucked under her belt so early on in her career, the sky is really the limit for the rapper.

“WAP”

It goes without saying that Cardi B’s and Meg Thee Stallion’s “WAP” dominated 2020. From a-list cameos featuring Kylie Jenner, Normani and Rosalía to twerk-ready lyricism, the rapper’s flipped the switch and took control from their male rap counterparts, going back and forth on how they want men to please them. Cementing their place in history with the tune, the single became the most searched lyrics on Google in 2020 – that’s some real hot girl shit!

Dominating TikTok

Captain Hook – Megan Thee Stallion

It’s near impossible to scroll through TikTok without hearing one of Meg’s single blasting through your speakers. Taking over the app with “WAP” and “Savages” challenges, the rapper created a new trend of TikTok music, with many other artists following through with their own catchy singles.

Shutting down Tory Lanez

There was nothing more prolific last year, than the rise and fall of Tory Lanez. From satisfying our early lockdown needs with “Quarantine Radio” to creating A-class content, the rapper seemed to be on-top of the world – until he took aim at Meg Thee Stallion last year after a night out at Kylie’s house. Suffering gunshot wounds to her foot from the Chixtape rapper, Megan pressed charges and shutdown any rumours of the shooting being fake or any sick jokes having addressed the incident in diss track and album opener “Shots Fired”. We stand by our Houston Hottie.
