With two killer EPs and a “Rock Artist of the Year” award already under their belt, Valleyheart shows no signs of slowing down. Having dropped “T.I.K” earlier this year, they’re back with another soul-searching track, “Scenery”.

Penned “in about twenty minutes”, “Scenery” is a lyrical outpouring of feeling and emotion. Specifically, it explores the feeling of being stuck in a mental rut. Through gritty melodies and introspective lyricism, Valleyheart remind the listener that change doesn’t just happen to us, it comes from within us. Their message arrives at a particularly poignant time, when lockdown is preventing those of us who feel mentally trapped from taking our usual escape route: a change of scene.

And the accompanying visuals are just as thought-provoking. Following the lead singer Kevin Klein on his bike, the music video takes us on an emotional and physical journey from one location to the next. And yet, despite all the scene-hopping, an inescapable feeling of stagnation and paralysis lingers with us from beginning to end.

On the inspiration behind the track, the four-piece divulged: “It touches on the idea of feeling stuck emotionally, mentality and even physically – and the ways we tell ourselves we need to change our environment to change ourselves. It can be as small as saying ‘oh maybe I need to go for a walk’, or as drastic as packing up all your stuff and moving halfway across the country. Whether for better or worse, ‘Scenery’ examines the way we shake up our surroundings in search of mental clarity and peace.”

Taken from their upcoming EP, set for release on March 26, “Scenery” is just a little taster of what the band have in store for us in 2021, as they continue to carve out a space of their own in the realm of alt-rock.
