While things might be looking a little different at the Biden Inauguration this year, with Covid-style restrictions and a beefed-up security crew, its musical lineup proves that this will still be a swearing in to remember.

The ceremony will welcome the likes of pop icons Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez to the stage at the U.S. Capitol, where Biden will take the oath of office. Gaga will be blessing our ears with a rendition of the National Anthem (here’s hoping it mirrors her flawless 2016 Super Bowl performance), and J-Lo will be following with a powerful musical performance on the West Front – likely of some of her biggest hits.

Both Gaga and J-Lo are no strangers to political activism and have been devout supporters of the president-elect since he became the Democratic nominee. An unapologetic activist-performer who has always used her artistic platform to advocate for inclusion and unity, Gaga worked closely with Biden when he was vice president on the ‘It’s On Us’ movement to combat campus sexual assault. J-Lo, whose recent Super Bowl Halftime Show with Shakira celebrated Latino culture both visually and rhythmically, has been boldly outspoken about the impact of coronavirus on Latinos, Trump’s immigration policies and the need to unify the country.

If “this inauguration presents a unique opportunity to spotlight the resilience and spirit of an America United,” as the Presidential Inaugural Committee chief Tony Allen says, then there’s no doubt they’ve chosen the right women to lead.

The announcement comes just after word that the nicest guy in Hollywood, Tom Hanks, will be bringing a smile to all our faces as host of a prime-time special Celebrating America on the night of the inauguration. The special will feature performances from Justin Timberlake, Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato and Ant Clemons, with other announcements still to come.
