Here with an explosive surge of energy to jumpstart our somewhat lacklustre January is Harlem native MELII – the rapper, ringer and songwriter soon to be on everyone’s lips.

Now, we’re all too familiar with dead-weight exes, tumultuous relationships, and fickle rows, but fiery new track “You Ain’t Worth It” featuring Grammy-nominated singer 6LACK has encapsulated it all in the ultimate kiss-off “ex-anthem”. And we are so here for it.

“I let you act up / get your shit together/ I let you rock / had me convinced that you ain’t know no better,” crackles MELII’s honest bars, simmering over undulating basslines.

And the 00s-vibes music video – directed by Des Gray (Lil Baby, Iann Dior, RUSS) – depicts the ups-and-downs of a chaotic romance, before MELII finds a new partner who doesn’t spend all day acting up, and actually treats her with respect.

“The video was such a fun vibe,” explains MELII. “We wanted to go with old school looks and aesthetic because it went with the song the best. Working with 6LACK was amazing.”
