Putting her own spin on soul with her melodic prowess is newcomer KIRBY with new single “Superpower”. With a head-bop worthy bassline and vocals that’ll have you belting out your own version, KIRBY effortlessly blends gospel-tinged pianos with contemporary R&B rhythms for a nostalgic feel-good tune. Featuring Rhytmn + Flow winner D Smoke, tune radiates melanin and empowerment during times where self-awareness and love are important.

Speaking on the release, the singer said, “I wonder who I would be, had I grown up believing that being black is a Superpower… Believing that instead of capes, we were given skin that’s so varied and complex; we can be dark as the night or bright as the sun. This song is for the melaninated superheroes who walk this earth. Your skin is not your burden, your skin is not your curse, your skin is not your choice, BUT it is your Superpower.”

Having lent her pen to hit single “FourFiveSeconds” and Demi Lovato’s “Die With You”, KIRBY is not new to this and has received wide-spread acclaim for her lyricism and performances. With her debut EP “Sis” released earlier this year, we hope there is an album on the way because we can’t get enough.
