Mellow, atmospheric and emotive. These are the serene vibes Scandinavian collective Twenty Committee have sought to capture in their latest track, “Something New”.

Following up from last month’s “In A Rush”, the group, led by producer Anders Källmark, have teamed up with frequent collaborator and vocalist extraordinaire Chloe Rodgers, and co-producer William Purton. Together, the make-shift musical outfit create a sombre, piano-led ballad that not only tugs on our heartstrings, but nearly rips them clean out of our chest.

“The song is about finding out that you are now happy in what you thought was a stagnant relationship,” explain the group. “The production had hit its peak until Will, the co-producer came in with some great new ideas and beautiful piano playing, which then began to flow perfectly. The song was finished in one long studio day and night at RAK in St Johns Wood. Very early in the morning, we realised that we had done it!”

The result is a bittersweet, stirring look at the underbelly of dark-pop, showcasing a new direction for the collective that can only get more haunting.
