While we all love going to the beach and basking underneath the beating heat, unwanted gazes and but objectification and gaze can ruin a fun-filled day – and pouring out her own experiences of this in a new track, is 18-year-old C’est Karma with “Pool Party”. Bursting with melodic pianos and sombre guitar strings, the singer paints the picture of a man who preys on those on the beach. With her signature wispy vocals guiding us through the all-too-real story, C’est Karma provides us with an intense yet subtle tune that’ll leave you stunned.

Speaking on creating the track, the singer said, “I feel particularly exposed and vulnerable on beaches,” explains Karma. “These stares make me feel even more self-conscious; I feel like prey when I can feel an unknown man’s eyes scan my body. This is what this song is about: it’s about men we don’t know that have the power to make us feel uneasy.”

Influenced by the likes of Stella Donnelly, Karma pulls inspiration from her similar track “Boys Will Be Boys”, whereby Donnelly equally shares difficult topics with calming melodies and sweet vocals. Even with COVID taking over the world this year, this didn’t stop the singer from dropping hits “Fist Fight” and “Girls”, receiving acclaim for both her songwriting ability and heartwarming vocals.
