If you’re on the quest for nostalgic pop bliss this Friday, you needn’t look any further, Artemis Orion has the sounds that will you to the clouds above. The songwriting and producing talent’s Percy Jackson-esque name of derives from Greek mythology, a symbol of the co-existence and attraction and opposite ideas, a perfect fit for someone who’ll always be on a journey to discover what lies within.

Helming from the suburbs of Los Angeles, California, Orion has always been infatuated with music, glued to the screen anytime her family flicked over to MTV and VH1, day-dreaming about the first time she’d hit the stage herself. After relocating to Nashville as a child, Orion threw herself into the arts scene any way she could, composing, acting, performing at open-mics, even chancing her hand at film-making. It was the itch she couldn’t scratch.

When college came around Orion was already well versed in the land of YouTube and Soundcloud, taking her original songs and covers to open-mics and writer’s rounds across campus. After putting out her first self-produced single “Venus”, and a debut lofi hip-hop collab in 2019, things took off from there, and before she knew it, Orion was a star on the rise.

That brings us to today, and the release of Orion’s latest woozy single, “Midnight Thoughts”. In the perfectly coming-of-age track, the singer’s soft and heavenly vocals are backed only by DIY acoustics and twinkly arrangements. Orion riffs on about romance and growing pains with the angst and optimism all good pop tunes know too well. If Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging were to be remade in 2020, “Midnight Thoughts” would no doubt find itself with a prime spot on the soundtrack, a euphoric reminder of those time’s life isn’t all that bad.
