We saw Henry Cavill cast as Sherlock Holmes and we were sold in a heartbeat. Based on the book series of the same name by Nancy Springer, Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown is stepping into the shoes of the curious and rule-breaking little sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes – Enola Holmes. Following the book, the plot takes us around of bend of mysteries and revaluations as the trio’s mother goes missing. With an all-star cast featuring the likes of, the multifaceted Helena Bonham Carter and everyone’s #MCM Sam Claflin, we are already sitting on the edge of our seats in anticipation.

The Duchess

No the 18th Century period drama with Keira Knightley isn’t getting a reboot, instead comedian Katherine Ryan is back with a new series based on a fabulously single mom living in London. The series follows Katherine after her break up with her estranged and troubled baby daddy and, her attempts to have a second child – without the stress of another useless dad. The hilarious single-shot comedy series is just what we need as the days get darker.

Wonder Woman 1984

Now that Marvel’s The Avengers is done and dusted, it’s DC’s time to shine with their first look of Wonder Woman 1984. With stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine strapping up their boots once again for another action-packed film, director Patty Jenkins takes us through the Cold War where Diana comes into conflict with businessman Maxwell Lord and friend-turned-enemy Barbara Minerva. With filming wrapped before the COVID pandemic, the film is set for release in cinemas October 2nd.

On The Rocks

You already know it’s going to be a standout film when you see A24 have links to it. Directed and written by The Bling Ring and Marie Antoinette director Sofia Coppola, On The Rocks follows Laura (Rashida Jones) who suspects her husband Dean (Marlon Wayans) is having an affair after he starts to work late. Fearing the worse, Laura enlists her impulsive father Felix (Bill Murray) to prowl to streets of New York looking for answers. The comedy-drama is perfect for a cosy night in with friends.

Ammonite

Following the life of acclaimed self-taught palaeontologist, Mary Anning (Kate Winslet), Ammonite takes us through a love affair with Mary and young socialite Charlotte Murchison (Saoirse Ronan) –  as they discover their feelings for one another while defying all social bounds. The two women from different worlds both offer what the other has been searching for, leading to trouble on the horizon. The moving drama is set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The series will focus on a young governess who travels to the English countryside to look after two orphaned children – but not all is as it seems. With Victoria Pedretti and Kate Siegal joining this thiller, we are curious to see what the series will entail.
