Hailing from the vibrant city of Stockholm is independent songwriter and artist Mary Cicilia with her new electro-pop anthem, “Hourglass”. Transferring her classical influences from her violin-playing days, she made the move to Sweden where she birthed her first single “Without You”, garnering over 40 million streams. This new track proves Cicilia as a force to be reckoned with in the pop scene as she continues to impress her listeners with her synth-infused grooves and sultry lyricism.
“Hourglass” opens with a rhythmic acoustic guitar pattern as she seamlessly moves in and out of her delicate falsetto tone. Layered by lustrous harmonies and a booming kick drum throughout, she creates the narrative of setting boundaries and putting yourself first in order for you to live life to its fullest. Mary Cicilia embodies what it means to have complete ownership of your creativity without the constraints of a label, creating her own music videos, acoustic live sessions and collaborating with designers for her upcoming singles.
Speaking on the track she says: “Hourglass came out of a long distance relationship and is about waiting for a person, but only for so long. It’s more than okay and often necessary to set your own time-limits so you don’t end up waiting and missing out on your own life. Hourglass has this positive vibe and also some attitude, and it really helped me process some personal things.”
