Beyoncé has dropped her highly anticipated visual album and we’re currently scrambling to locate our edges. The superstar’s Lion King-inspired visual album Black Is King is ode to the reimagined story, as it uses sound clips from film to assist with the transitions from video to video. Filled with beauty and black excellence from around the world, the film sets the bar with vibrant high energy dancers and noble figures such as Naomi Campbell and Lupita Nyong’o making appearances. Premiering on Disney+ today, Beyoncé has described the project as a labour of love with each song displaying a distinctly different visual while flowing together perfectly.

Black Is King is a story told by African creatives exploring their traditions as they draw inspirations from Lagos to Banjul for a film that voices their culture and history. The compelling film takes us on a moving journey of beautiful cultures and traditions that exist within black communities and we’re completely obsessed.
