Virgil Abloh has teamed up with BAPE founder Nigo for his first collaboration at Louis Vuitton, LV².
Whatever Virgil touches turns to gold. Exhibit A? His first collaboration at ; a buzzy link-up with Japanese designer and BAPE founder Nigo – proving time after time that luxury fashion steeped in heritage is still cooking up the coolest drops.
The standalone collection – LV² – sees the two pioneers fusing their distinctive style palettes, with a broad offering covering everything from suiting, to denim, to leather accessories.
Denim pieces steal the show with monogram patchwork and check emblazoned across raw utilitarian styles. Classic derby shoes and loafers get the LV treatment, and the “Louis Vuitton²” logo elevates simple grey sweatshirts and black zip-up hoodies for streetwear with a luxe twist. But accessories is where the hypiest pieces lie (no doubt soon to get the “seen-everywhere” Instagram treatment): think deconstructed bucket hats, kitschy wristwatches, and boxy patchwork satchels. Teamwork is dreamwork.
Available this week, it marks Abloh’s first collaboration since being named about two years ago.
