They’ve been keeping us busy on the sewing machine with their McQueen Creators project – and now the fashion house has launched their second instalment of a new initiative, #McQueenMusic.
The new project allows followers to download music taken from McQueen fashion shows, and immerse themselves in the high drama of some of their most iconic and boundary-pushing shows. The composer for the SS20 women’s show, Isobel Waller-Bridge, has also created an exclusive new score for the house, alongside prolific conductor Robert Ames and violinist Galya Bisengalieva, titled Suspended in Air, which will be released later this week.
Speaking on the release, Waller-Bridge says, “I look around and I feel community more than ever. Community is a word so deeply associated with McQueen, and I wanted to celebrate that connectivity with diversity and energy. That doesn’t always mean in a major key or fast-paced, but two hours of diving into a world of excellent music to walk to, to stare at the sky, to run to, and to think of each other.”
Tonight at 6pm BST (Thursday 21 May), a video of the performance, shot in the Peak District, where Ames and Bisengaileva are both isolating, will also be shown on the Alexander McQueen YouTube channel.
