Maya Hawke has had a hugely successful few years making a name for herself in both music and film. Since her screen debut playing Jo in the BBC’s 2017 adaption of Little Women, she’s starred as Robin Buckley in the third season of Netflix’s Stranger Things and Linda Kasabian in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, as well as releasing her first few singles.

Covering our Summer 2020 issue, Hawke reflects on her experience working with the “wonderful” Tarantino, why season four of Stranger Things has been the most fun to film yet, and how she got her obsession with acting from spending hours on set with her parents as a child. And with her new album, Blush, set for release this summer, she explains her hopes that it will give people joy in these uncertain times — just like the recent album drops from her favourite female musicians, Phoebe Bridgers and Fiona Apple, have for her.
