WONDERLIST

Here’s our fave new songs from this week.

Taylor Swift – “ME!”

After weeks of guessing wtf she’s up to, Taylor Swift revealed all last night by dropping her brand new bop, “ME!” The first track from what we can assume is her upcoming seventh album, it’s a piece of pure pop delight with a fun and goofy Greatest Showman-esque video to match. There’s a snake that turns into butterflies – hello aesthetic representation of brand new Swift era! – and Panic! At The Disco’s Brendon Urie in a pastel suit, so what more could you want??

Au/Ra – “Assassin”

Gen Z dark pop newcomer Au/Ra is back with yet another song that touches on all your deepest feels. “Assassin” explores living with feelings of self-destruction and works as further evidence of the creativity and ingenuity the Ibiza-born Antigua-raised singer is exploring with her form of outsider pop. Love.

The Rhythm Method – “Sex and The Suburbs”

Finally announcing their debut album, London duo The Rhythm Method have released a brand new synth-pop number “Sex And The Suburbs” to get us excited about that full length record making its way into our lives. An ode to the outskirts of London with a cheeky Spice Girls callback thrown in, it’s the kind of off-kilter banger that’s meant to be listened to with a sunshine setting and a pint in hand. Expect more gems like this when How Would You Know I Was Lonely? drops in June.

Kipp Boucher – “Evil”

“What kind of god says it’s not evil?” Kipp Boucher asks in his brand new track “Evil”. A question that sums up his feelings towards life’s challenges, the Hackney-based artist soundtracks this with cinematic melodies and anthemic tones in a darkly beautiful new song.

Kim Petras – “Broken”

Ushering in a brand new era, Kim Petras has dropped new track “Broken”. With her classic powerhouse vocals and electro pop backing, it’s showing off her vulnerable side while simultaneously giving a big “fuck you” to past lovers as she fires piercing lyrics over the nocturnal backing. A pop queen in the making.

July 7 – “Angels + Demons”

Rising newcomer July 7 is back with a slick modern R&B number, “Angels & Demons”. Speaking on the track the Manchester artist says: “‘Angels &Demons’ is about finding the good in the middle of bad. The song was created in a spur of the moment session where I just picked up the guitar and let it flow whilst building the production and song around it. It’s a real vibe, honest and real.” It also slaps. Always a help.

Stormzy – “Vossi Bop”

We’ve deffo saved the best ’til last this week – soz Taylor. King Stormzy is back with “Vossi Bop” and it’s, unsurprisingly, fucking fantastic. Killer beats, amazing visuals and calling out our shitshow of a government? There’s literally nothing more we could have wanted from the grime legend. If you’re not excited for new music, you’re an idiot. And we’re already putting money on the whole Glasto crowd chanting “FUCK BORIS!” when Stormzy headlines this year as one of the festival highlights of the whole summer.
