Marc Jacques Burton has always had an eye for mixing luxury with a rebellious spirit.
Citing the 70s punk rock scene and its icons as the inspiration behind his distinctive collections, designer and artist Marc started the label using leather jackets as a canvas for his art. The MJB range has always retained this hand-made approach, now including hand-painted pieces, bomber jackets, distressed denim, hoodies, t-shirts and customised shoes (which are still made and sold in exclusively small quantities, of course).
This spring, the brand has collaborated with legendary video game franchise Mortal Kombat, for a limited edition capsule collection to commemorate the latest version of the game (Mortal Kombat 11) – a fitting partnership for a designer who champions dreams, individuality and a rough-around-the-edges aesthetic.
The line features two hoodies – one with its inner hood turned into a zippable balaclava – and two t-shirts, all of which blend the signature logos of both brands.
MORTAL KOMBAT X MJB launches in Selfridges today and online at marcjacquesburton.com and Selfridges.com.
