Marrying the romantic and the scientific in the folkloric way only Alessandro Michele could, Gucci’s new fragrances feel like a precise measure of magic. The Luxury Collection: The Alchemist’s Garden is based on the transformative experience of a scent sending you to a memory of another time and place. Creating seven eaux de parfum, four oils, three acque profumate and a candle, Michele worked with the renowned Alberto Morillas to unpick the science of alchemy and apply it to developing the new fragrances, taking base notes and turning them into something precious.
The oils and acque profumate can be combined with the eaux de parfum to develop an individual sillage, allowing each user to make their own perfect potion, just like the eponymous Alchemist of the Collection. Spanning a bouquet of scents, the eaux de parfum encapsulate rose, oud, amber, violet, iris, mimosa and the seasonal change of woodlands.
Authentic to the highest degree, the fragrances are held in bottles inspired by the jars and containers found on an apothecary shelf, with lacquered glass bottles and stoppers. The oils — in sage green bottles — come with a touche oreille, a pipette applicator allowing drop precision for customisation.
Perhaps the most precious of all the new additions, shrouded in real gold decorations, the candle from the Alchemist’s Garden burns reveal the scent of The Virgin Violet, allowing you to escape to the garden in Michele’s imagination in your own home.
