Netflix has caused online outrage among stans of Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams’ romantic tear-fest The Notebook furious after changing the film’s heartbreaking finale. In the original 2004 version, we see older versions of Gosling and McAdams’ characters Noah and Allie hug in bed, before dying together in harmony.
But, keen-eyed Netflix users have expressed their anger and this iconic scene being traded for another, in which we see birds flying over a lake. With the scene often touted as the best bit of the whole film, it is safe to say that people were livid as to the streaming giant’s move, with many going on Twitter to vent their anger.
